The rain falls on the hillside
It weakens the earth and stone
I stand by the muddy waters
Feeling tired, adrift and alone
My life has had many turnings
My stories the same as yours
Each pain and loss and glory
Bows to its own applause
And the stream becomes a river
That rages as it breaks the lines
All I’ve built is underwater
Now I live in uncertain times
I have heard each clap of thunder
I have felt each lightening strike
Where my heart once felt the sunshine
The Clouds now darken my life
I know we share the same burden
To walk through the flooded plain
And find some shade or shelter
To plant our seeds again
And the mud is thick and flowing
I am stuck until the water declines
Waiting in the rack and ruin
In the wreckage of uncertain times
I was once just like you
Full of hope on the edge of my dreams
The skies of my life were clearing
I waded in its gentle streams
Now the water is a raging torrent
All is lost what once was gained
As I stand in the muddy waters
No glory just the loss and pain
Waiting for the rescue boat
Or searching the sky for signs
That the wind will break the clouds
And the storm of uncertain times
